Years ago, Wilco was pegged as the “American Radiohead”, but in 2010 that honour would more accurately go to Texas band Midlake, who across two criminally under-appreciated albums - Bamnan and Silvercork (2004) and Trials of Van Occupanther (2006) - have mapped backwoods paranoia with beautiful melodies and cryptic lyrics.
