Feeling your best is essential to aging gracefully. And, in order to feel like a million bucks, you have to pay close attention to how you're treating your body. To keep or bring back that youthful spring in your step, be sure you're committing to the following healthy lifestyle habits:

EAT WELL

We all know eating right can prevent many common ailments, weight gain, as well as vitamin deficiency that reacts with our skin appearance and overall organ functioning. Eating the right foods and proportion of those foods has the potential of not only helping us live longer but stay looking and feeling younger for many years into our older adult life.

So what food actually would be the most beneficial? I don’t know about you, but it seems like more and more we’re told not to eat something we thought was, without a doubt, good for our bodies. Super foods for longevity as cited by WebMD include antioxidant compounds paired with powerful nutrients such as protein, calcium and vitamin D. What is great is that there are positive symptoms to adding these into your diet (or increasing the amount) about how hair growth, strength and shine, as well as limiting wrinkles can all be aided with the right nutrients.

EXERCISE

As many of us may or many not like to admit, the benefits of eating well are only expedited if you exercise too. As you age it is really essential to take into account that your body is aging too and expecting the same outcome and ability you had in your thirties is really unrealistic. Focusing on target heart rates that align with your gender and age are tried and true, but as always doctor recommendations are probably a good thing to listen to as well. Activities that are great for aging bodies include:

Swimming- not only is it harder than it looks if you’ve never built a personal aqualung, but your body doesn’t have to fight gravity. Great for arthritis and joint pain, the water is like a personal support for weightlessness.

Biking- This one is both good and bad for the knees, it releases pressure but caution and ask your doctor about the repetitive motion and if your body is build for this type of exercise.

Walking- Don’t shame the name! Walking has amazing benefits with helping boost circulation and essentially massaging organs in a way that helps their overall functioning. This is a great low impact exercise with numerous benefits.

LOOKING GOOD

Keeping in mind those simple tips will have you well on your way to a George Clooney looking heartthrob; silvers hairs aren’t a bad thing! Take care of your skin in as simple of ways as drinking water. Water flushes out the toxins and helps regenerate new cell growth, while also hydrating the skin as a natural moisturizer. Which means, fewer wrinkles; however the younger you begin to take care of your skin by drinking water, the more success you will have in this preventative measure. Confidence in yourself has a lot to do with how you are perceived as well.

Having hair loss problems? Trust me, the toupee is noticeable. There are innovative options out there that provide more genuine looking results. After about a year post-op there is visibly no difference!

Take pride in the years you have lived and wear them with grace, this will exude through your body language and tone of voice to those you encounter. Don’t believe me? Try it with intention for a couple of days and see if you notice a difference in how you feel, how others respond to you, and any minute changes from your daily interactions.
