TEST DRIVE

The Infiniti FX 35 is a trickster. Yes, it’s a crossover. Yes, it has all-wheel-drive. But the FX also comes equipped with a 300-plus horsepower engine and all the traction developed by that all-wheel-drive system. Meaning, the Infiniti is far closer to a tire-shredding sports car than an off-roading SUV. Problem is, all that speed comes at a price — and that price is paid at the fuel pump. So disheartening! Final analysis: If you can temper the condition known as lead foot, the FX rewards with plenty of style, serious luxury amenities and, yes, the occasional sudden burst of speed.
