RearingaComradeA_CROP.jpg

When Britain declared war on Germany in 1914, Canadians were pressed into service. Canada's total casualties stood at 67,000 killed and 173,000 wounded. In this image published in The New York Times on November 24, 1917, a wounded Canadian is aided by a comrade as two Boche prisoners trail behind after an attack on Hill 70.
