PHOTO OF THE DAY

The note on the back of this June 22, 1929 image from the TORO-NY Times Canadian Photo Archive says, Mr. Lachance of Ile d'Orleans, Quebec, truly seems "at peace with the world." The island near Quebec City, one of the initial outposts of New France, was part of a New York Times feature on rural French Canadian life. Back then, of course, you didn't have to worry about things like RRSPs.
