With our nation's birthday soon to be upon us, we celebrate Canadian icons from the NY Times Canadian Photo Archive. Yes, even horses. Here we see Northern Dancer who won the Queen's Plate in 1964 for owner E.P. Taylor. It was a remarkable year,with Northern Dancer becoming the first Canadian born and bred thoroughbred to win the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness.
