Here, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, are greeted by Prime Minister Mackenzie King as they arrive in Canada for a Royal Visit in May 1939. The King, whom we all now know was called Bertie by his family thanks to the Academy Award-winning film The King's Speech, was not expected to take the throne.
