So you’ve mastered your dates, you’re a conversation Casanova and you’re ready to take the next step and have a girl over. What now? Well before planning your home game, there are a few things you can do to make your place more chick friendly.

First things first, let’s tackle furniture. Clearly, no one is expecting you to overhaul your entire place just to have a girl over, but if your home décor includes a mattress on the floor, milk crates as a coffee table, a futon, or construction pylons “just for fun,” let’s just agree to part ways now.

You want to create a space where a woman feels comfortable, a space where she can relax. Small touches can go a long way. Get some great artwork; it doesn’t have to be expensive, but it should be framed and, unless vintage or foreign, should not be a poster for a feature film. Scatter candles, pillows and a cozy throw throughout - nothing says romance and potential makeout like flattering candlelight and spots to get close.

Put away your action figures (I once went to a guy’s place for dinner and was introduced to his extensive collection of Transformer figurines. Needless to say we never got to dessert.) Stock your fridge with girl-friendly items like sparkling water, fresh fruit and good chocolate (a man with good chocolate is a very dateable man).

Last, but CERTAINLY not least, make sure your sheets and towels are clean. If you make it that far, your date will appreciate the luxurious hotel-like feeling of fresh sheets and who knows, it may lead to some “just met you in the lobby” role-playing. Bonus!
